The retaining wall and gardening
There is one accessory that almost necessarily is present when doing landscaping of a villa - the retaining wall. To have an attractive retaining wall in the yard or garden, it must be built from quality and effectivematerials .

Nowadays there are many different ways to achieve this goal. Starting from bricks, concrete blocks ytong, concrete, reinforce concrete, stone (natural and artificial) and even wood. Some professionals in the field of landscape design and landscaping even make combinations of these materials, which are quite successful.

But undoubtedly the most beautiful remains retaining wall built of natural stone that has a wonderful finish in the decoration of the yard and garden.

The basic rules that must be met in the construction of retaining walls are: no need to use small stones, the stones is good to have homogeneous (are of the same type), it is best to order the stones from the nearby quarry or specialized shopsif possible choose the stones by yourself, be on the site when they deliver the stones, put the largest stones at the bottom (on the basis) because this wall will become much more stable that way.

Before you choose the stones and buy them is good to clarify exactly the place of the wall, what will be designed for (if you going to use it for strengthening something or it will just be decorative, will be decorated with plants or not) and after clarify that it is better to choose the right stone for your wall. Most often retaining walls are built to overcome the excesses in the field and for the prevention of landslides, which can lead to serious problems. Retaining walls and decorative retaining walls are alsobeing built near stairs for more security.

Should choose whether you use a binder for your wall or make it without solution (dry masonry). Binders are various types of cement, lime solutions which must be weather resistant, so that the wall can be a maximum endurance. The advantage in dry masonry is that the wall acts like a drainage, more precisely all the water can pass freely thru.

We will offer you several types of stones that you can use. First is the granite, it is highly resistant to weather conditions and is quite secular. The disadvantages are that there are gray and dull color and if you do not decorate your wall with plants you risk it to become quite ugly, but if you are using it to strengthen a steep slope, it is your stone. Analogues of granite are other igneous rocks.

Another suitable stone is the limestone, but unlike granite, it has a weak strength is not appropriate to strengthen the slopes, although in practice it is used, but if you want the limestone is best to contact a specialist first. There are many interesting and bizarre forms, you can sharp the edges easily, the surface is smoothed easily and it overgrown fast with lichens and mosses.

If you decide to landscaped your wall, decorate it with various plants you should comply with the fact that some plants do not tolerate limestone.Otherwise, landscaping can be done, as the plants are planted over the retaining wall and let leaf on it.

Another option for decorating your wall with climbing plants is making it thicker and leaving little holes in which are placed small pots. There are plenty of different kinds of limestone in Bulgaria like light gray in StaraPlanina, creamy white in Vratsa, White solid  near Lom, Shumen and Somovit, white shell with gray stripes near Varna.
